Puppy Pre-School

Thank you for your interest in our Puppy Pre-School at Grantham Street Puppy School. It is wonderful news that you are starting your puppy off on the right paws!

Puppy Pre-School is a great way to learn how important the socialisation period for puppies really is and how you can progress with this at home to ensure you build solid foundations for a sound and confident dog later in life.

Our course is held on a Tuesday evening for a period of four weeks.

Our Socialisation program is based on real life experiences and should be viewed as an opportunity to learn how to expose your puppy correctly to ‘daily life’ in order to prepare him/her for adult life.

Classes are structured to follow on from training elements between sessions, therefore it is important that exercises are practiced at home or you and your puppy will fall behind. (Any missed classes can be made up by viewing your homework emails)

These classes are not a ‘free for all’ play session as this can actually damage the development of social skills which is what we are trying to avoid during this sensitive period of development.

As you will be aware, all puppies are individuals, and some will cope better in a class environment than others. For this reason, on the rare occasion a puppy may not be suitable to train under these conditions and you will therefore be offered an alternative solution to your training.

All our training is based on up-to-date scientific research and has been tried and tested over many years. We train using Operant Conditioning utilising the power of positive reinforcement or the removal of a reinforcer (reward). We do not advocate or support any form of punishment as this will damage your relationship with your puppy and is often the cause of fear based behaviours including aggression.

Classes

All Classes will be held at the Grantham Street Veterinary Clinic – 58D Grantham Street, Wembley. All classes are held @ 7.30PM (MAP)

Class times may change if classes are postponed.  We require a minimum of four puppies to begin a new group. If this minimum number is not met, then a class will be postponed to the following week.

Once you have signed up, you agree to our terms & conditions if classes are postponed.

Once you completed your payment you will receive a welcome email that includes a video on socialisation and puppy development. It will be beneficial if you are able to view this prior to attending class.

Should you have any questions in relation to the training please feel free to contact us at PATS either via email - [email protected] or telephone - 9309 3259
